How to find duplicate SKU's in your Shopify products

In Unleashed's eCommerce Hub's Shopify integration, products can only be mapped on a one to one basis. This means, if there are any products or variants in Shopify with the same SKU (product code), the integration will fail to sync them successfully. This can result in Shopify orders failing to import to Unleashed or product updates (such as stock availability) failing to sync to Shopify.

We recommend that all SKUs in Shopify be unique across all active, draft and variant products to help reduce the occurrence of duplicate SKU errors.

Follow these steps from within your Shopify account to identify any duplicate SKU's:
  1. In Shopify, go to the Products page for your store.
  2. In the top right of the page, select Export and then All Products and CSV to Excel.
  3. Once you've received the exported file, open it and highlight the Variant SKU column.
  4. In the Home tab of Excel, select the Conditional Formatting button
  5. In the drop-down menu, select Highlight Cells Rules
  6. In the second menu, select Duplicate Values
  7. When you select OK, the file will apply the rule and any cell within the Variant SKU column that has the same value as another cell in the same column will be highlighted (usually in red).
  8. The highlighted cells are identifying which of your products or variants have a SKU that's been used more than once across your product list.
  9. Once you've identified the duplicate SKU's, head back into Shopify and edit the products or variants so that all SKU's are unique.

If you are still having issues with syncing your SKU's with Unleashed's Product Codes or importing orders from Shopify, don't hesitate to reach out to our Support team. For more details, see Submit a request in the Support Portal.
