Barcoding

Follow

The barcoding feature enables single or bulk scanning of product barcodes for the following processes:

  • Receipting Purchase Orders
  • Stock Counts
  • Sales Shipments
  • Warehouse Transfers

This feature will enable faster and more accurate inventory control by reducing manual entry errors and saving time.

We support most plug and play / Bluetooth barcode scanners. To ensure compatibility with Unleashed, please test whether the scanner is able to read and write into an Excel spreadsheet.

Before You Begin

  • Ensure that you add Products with barcode values. If you want to add barcode values for multiple existing products, you can export the existing products, enter the barcode values, and import the file.
  • You can add suffixes to the barcode scanner settings e.g. Return/Enter or Tab.

Unleashed Pages with Barcoding

The following Unleashed pages include barcode scanning as a part of their workflow:

  • Purchase | Purchase Orders | Receipt Purchase
  • Inventory | Transactions | Stock Counts | Add Stock Count
  • Sales | Orders | Add or View Sales Orders | Create Shipment

How it Works

On the Receipt Purchase, Add Stock Count, or Create Shipment page, click the Barcode scanning  button.

Note that the value in the Receipt Quantity column will change to zero, regardless of whether the Auto Set Receipt Quantity option (Settings | Company) is enabled or disabled.

The Scan Single Barcode window is displayed.

Ensure the cursor is in the Barcode box.

Note: You can only scan the product barcodes. You cannot scan serial numbers or batch numbers.
  1. Scan the product.
  2. If you want to add multiple product quantities, enter the value in the Increment By field. For example:
  3. Click Add
  4. If you want to scan multiple product barcodes, select the Bulk Scan option.
  5. The Scan Multiple Barcodes window is displayed:

  1. Ensure the cursor is in the Barcodes box.
  2. Scan the products. The barcodes must be separated by commas.
  3. Click Add.

Adding Barcodes to Doc Designer Templates

You can add barcodes and barcode images to Doc Designer templates:

  1. Go to Settings | Doc Designer. Open the required Doc Designer template.
  2. Select the grid and click the Component tab.
  3. In the COLUMN CONTROL area, in the Headers field, scroll down the list and select BarcodeImage.
  4. Select the Visible checkbox.
  5. Click Save and then click Preview to review the changes. Ensure you have products with valid barcodes saved.
  6. Click Publish to publish the template changes.
Note: A barcode image will not be displayed if either the product does not have a barcode or the barcode string is invalid. Supported formats:
  • EAN-13
  • UPC-A
  • EAN-8
  • Code 128
  • ITF 14
