Barcoding Tutorial Video

The barcoding feature enables single or bulk scanning of product barcodes for the following processes:

  • Receipting Purchase Orders
  • Stock Counts
  • Sales Shipments
  • Warehouse Transfers

This feature will enable faster and more accurate inventory control by reducing manual entry errors and saving time.

We support most plug and play / Bluetooth barcode scanners. To ensure compatibility with Unleashed, please test whether the scanner is able to read and write into an Excel spreadsheet.

Points to Note

  • In order to use the Barcode feature, ensure that your Products have a Barcode value included in the product's Units of Measure section, for the Base Unit at least.
  • If you want to add Barcode values for multiple products in bulk, use the Products and Alternate Units of Measure templates in Inventory | Products | Import/Export.
  • You can add suffixes to the barcode scanner settings e.g. Return/Enter or Tab.

Scanning Barcodes for transactions

  1. On the 'Receipt Purchase', 'Add Stock Count', 'Create Shipment' and Warehouse Transfer pages, click the Barcode Scanning button.
NOTE: For Purchase Orders, the Receipt Quantity column will change to zero, regardless of whether the Auto Set Receipt Quantity option (Settings | Company) is enabled or disabled.
  2. A Scan Barcode window will pop-up which will default to the Scan Single Barcode option. Toggle on Multi Scan if you will be scanning multiple products and then copying the scanned list into the Barcode field.

NOTE: You can only scan the product barcodes. You cannot scan serial numbers or batch numbers.
  3. If using Scan Single Barcode:
    1. Ensure the cursor is in the Barcode box.
    2. Scan the product's Barcode.
    3. If there are multiple units of the product, update the Increment By field with the quantity counted.
    4. Click Add
  4. If using Scan Multiple Barcodes:
    1. Ensure the cursor is in the Barcodes box.
    2. Scan the product Barcodes. The scanned Barcodes will populate as a list (or by comma's) in the Barcode field.
    3. Click Add.
  5. The Product Line's quantity in the transaction will update to show the total quantity scanned.

FAQs

Is there a recommended Barcode Scanner to use with Unleashed?

You can use any Plug and Play or Bluetooth device when you are scanning barcodes, as long as the barcode scanner has a keyboard input setting itself.

Within testing, we have used the Cino Brand, but we are not resellers, so there is no particular brand or type of scanner that we recommend as such. Any plug and play scanner should work.

Is there a barcode character limit?

A barcode field within Unleashed has a character limit of 200.

NOTE: This tutorial video was made before the Multiple Units of Measure release. Now, when you add a base unit of measure to a product record, you will be able to add a barcode under the Unit of Measure section of the product record at the bottom of the page.
