The Label Printing feature enables you to print product labels from the following pages:

  • View Products page or the Individual Product page
  • Purchase Order, View Purchases and Receipt Purchases page
  • Sales Order and View Sales Order pages
  • Assembly page
  • You can use the default Doc Designer template or create custom Doc Designer templates.

Points to Note

  • You can ONLY print product labels from the Product, Sales Order, Purchase Order, and Assembly.
  • You can ONLY print a maximum of 100 product lines and 500 product labels at a time.
  • We have tested this feature with ONLY the Zebra G Series desktop printers. For more information, see Zebra G series desktop-printer-specifications.html.
  • Ensure that you correctly install and configure the printer settings as mentioned in their documentation.
  • We have documented some troubleshooting tips based on our testing which might help you troubleshoot some of the printer issues. However, for any hardware specific support you must contact the Support team for the printer you are using.
  • For any questions related to the Label Printing feature, please submit a case to our Experience Team.

Design Label Templates

Unleashed provides a Default Label template to your Unleashed account upon creation, which you can use to print with. The Default Label isn't an editable template, but you duplicate it and then edit and customize the replica for your business's requirements, using Document Designer. To design your own label templates, follow the below steps:

  1. From the main menu, select Settings and Doc Designer, then Labels.
  2. The Document Designer - Label page will appear, showing the template's layout on the left and the Document tab on the right. 
  3. In the Document tab, use the Template Name drop down menu to select Default Label.
  4. Select the Duplicate button, in the Document tab.
  5. Two new fields will show in the Document tab, provide a unique name for the duplicate label in New Template Name and make sure Label is selected in the Document Type drop-down menu. 
  6. Click Create and this will save the duplicated template as an editable version.

Document tab

In Doc Designer, the Document tab enables you to select which document type's template you're wanting to work with. Each of the functions and features available in the Document tab have be explained below:

  • Document Type: The transaction the template is applicable to, e.g. Sales Orders, Assemblies, Labels
  • Template Name: The unique name of the template.
  • Default (checkbox): If ticked, the chosen Template will be the default used when a specific template isn't selected in the transaction.
  • New: Create a new blank template.
  • Rename: Edit the current name of a template.
  • Duplicate: Replicate an existing template.
  • Export: Download the template as a JSON file in .json format.
  • Delete: Remove the template from Doc Designer.
  • Import Template: Upload a new template as JSON file in .json format. See Importing/Exporting Document Templates.

Template tab

Manage the overall style, orientation and dimensions of your Label templates, within the Template tab. Each of the functions and features available in the Template tab have be explained below: 

  • Font Name: Use the drop down menu to select the default Font for the template.
  • Font Size: Use the drop down menu to select the default Font Size for the template.
  • Document Size: Use the drop down menu to select either A4, Letter or Custom as the template's size. Additional options are available, depending on which is selected
    • A4 or Letter
      • Orientation: Use the drop down menu to select either Portrait or Landscape
    • Custom:
      • Dimension (cm/inch): Advise the Width and Height of your template's size
      • Margin (cm/inch): Advise how far in from the Top, Bottom, Left and Right the template's layout should sit. 

NOTE: The Dimension and Margin specifications are set as either cm or inch, depending on the Measurement Units selected in your Company settings. The min and max sizes have been outlined below:

Toolbox tab

The Toolbox tab enables the management of the components that are included on your template. The components available in each Toolbox section have been detailed below:

Section Component Description
Basic Components Text

Can be used to include label text or any other specific details you want to display on your labels.

Company Logo

Displays the company logo you have selected in the Images tab of your Company settings.

Image

You can select to display any image saved in the in the Images tab of your Company settings.

Line

Can be used to create a straight line (horizontal or vertical) with various attributes in your template

Remove Blank Address Line Can be used to dynamically adjust the template to remove any gaps or blank address fields.
Product Data Attribute

You can display up to 3 product attributes. For more information about product attributes, see Attribute Sets. For more information about configuring the required product attribute settings on your label template, see Import Product Attributes Field.

Barcode

Displays the numeric barcode saved on the product.

Barcode Image

Displays the Barcode image for the barcode saved on the product. You can choose from the following formats: 

  • EAN 13 - Default
  • UPC-A
  • EAN 8
  • Code 128

Batch Expiry Date The Expiry Date recorded against the Batch Number.
Bin Location The Bin Location from the Product's Inventory tab.
Cubic Total The Cubic Total from the Product's Details tab.
Default Sell Price The Default Sell Price from the Product's Sale tab.
Label Image Displays the default label image you have selected in the product's Attachments tab.
Pack Size Displays the pack size saved on the Product's Details tab, under Unit of Measure. 
Product Code Displays the product code.
Product Description Displays the product description.
Product Group Displays the product group.
Product Notes Displays any product notes.
Sell Price Tier Displays the selected Sell Price for the Product, depending on the Customer's allocated Sell Price Tier. 
Serial / Batch Number Displays the appropriate Serial Number or Batch Number.
Unit Of Measure Displays the unit of measure the Product is sold by.
Weight The weight of the unit sold.
Sales Data Completed Date The completed date of the Sales Order.
Order Data The order date on the Sales Order.
Order Number The Sales Order number.
Order Quantity The Sales Order line quantity.
Other Data Batch Quantity The quantity assigned to a batch number.
Reference The Customer Reference from the Sales Order or the Supplier Reference from the Purchase Order.

Component tab

Select a component in the template's design layout and a new tab will show; Component. This tab allows you to edit the style or format of that component, depending in it's content type. You can delete components, change their orientations and apply different fonts and colors, as appropriate.

Editing a Label template

You can update or edit a label's template at anytime, you'll just need to select the Document Type: Label and then choose the Template Name in Doc Designer and use the tabs described above to edit as necessary. Use the Preview tab to review the changes you've made so far in an example label and once you're happy with the changes select Publish in the top right corner. Once Publish, any new prints of the template will use this updated version.

Setting Default Labels

Within a product record, you can allocate a specific label template print by default for it, depending on what it's printing for. You can also allocate the default number of labels that should be printed for that transaction type too. 

In the Details tab, use the drop down menu's available to select the Default Label Template for each of the below:

  • For Product
  • For Sales Orders
  • For Purchase Orders

For the Sales and Purchase Order options, you'll also have the option to select the Default Label Quantity that will automatically populate when printing:

  • Order Quantity
  • Per Batch
  • Per Pack
  • Single

Once the label templates are allocated and saved, when a label is printed for the Product, Sales Order or Purchase Order, they'll print the template advised in the Details tab for the quantity advised. 

Printing Product Labels

To print labels for a product, unrelated to any Sales or Purchase Orders in Unleashed you can do so from either the product's record or the View Products page. Each have been outlined below.

Individual Product

  1. In a product's record, select the Product drop-down menu in the top right and select Print Label.


  2. A pop-up window for the Product Label Print Confirmation will then appear. It will populate the default template that's selected in the product's record, a Label Quantity of 1 (as Single is the default) and the Unit of Measure for the product. You can edit each of these fields to align with what you need to print.

    NOTE: You can print a maximum label quantity of 500.

  3. Click Print and a PDF version of the labels will be available to download from the task bar in the top right of Unleashed. Select the hyperlink in the task to download the document and send to your printer.

View Products

You can also print a product's label from the View Products page, using the Action Cog along that product's line on the far right of the grid. To print a label from View Products, see the below steps:

  1. From the main menu, select Inventory and Products, then View Products.
  2. Filter the view as required to find the product you want to print a label for and hover over the Action Cog on the far right
  3. Select the Print Product Label option.
  4. A pop-up window for the Product Label Print Confirmation will then appear. It will populate the default template that's selected in the product's record, a Label Quantity of 1 (as Single is the default) and the Unit of Measure for the product. You can edit each of these fields to align with what you need to print.

    NOTE: You can print a maximum label quantity of 500.

  5. Click Print and a PDF version of the labels will be available to download from the task bar in the top right of Unleashed. Select the hyperlink in the task to download the document and send to your printer.

Printing Product Labels for Purchase Orders

If you've receipted your goods and you want to apply a label to the stock received, you can print the product's labels directly from the Purchase Order, following the steps below:

  1. From the main menu, head to Purchases and View Purchases.
  2. Find the Purchase Order you want to print product labels for and hover over the Action Cog on the far right


  3. Select Print Product Labels.
  4. A pop-up window for Label Printing will appear, listing all products included on the Purchase Order. Use the checkboxes to select which of the listed products you want to print a label for (hover over the Action Cog for the option to Select All or Select None)
    • Label Quantity: Will populate the quantity as determined by the product's Default Label Quantity e.g Order Quantity. However, this quantity can be amended per print.
    • Label Template: Will populate the template advised in the product's For Purchase Orders menu.
  5. Select Print.
  6. A PDF version of the labels will be available to download from the task bar in the top right of Unleashed. Select the hyperlink in the task to download the document and send to your printer.

Printing Product Labels for Assemblies

If you've manufactured stock using an Assembly, you can print product labels for the newly assembled stock from the Assembly directly, following the below steps:

  1. From your Assembly (found either from View Assemblies in the Production menu or from the Global Search) and in the Print drop-down menu in the top right, select Product Labels.
  2. A pop-up window for the Product Label Print Confirmation will then appear. It will populate the default template that's selected in the product's record, a Label Quantity that populates from the Assembled Quantity and the Unit of Measure for the assembled product. You can edit each of these fields to align with what you need to print.

    NOTE: You can print a maximum label quantity of 500.

  3. Click Print and a PDF version of the labels will be available to download from the task bar in the top right of Unleashed. Select the hyperlink in the task to download the document and send to your printer.

Printing Product Labels From Sales Orders

You can print Product Labels from either the individual Sales Orders or from the View Sales Order page.

Individual Sales Order

  1. Find and open your Sales Order, and find the Print Labels button in the bottom right corner.
  2. A pop-up window for Label Printing will appear, listing all products included on the Sales Order. Use the checkboxes to select which of the listed products you want to print a label for (hover over the Action Cog for the option to Select All or Select None)
    • Label Quantity: Will populate the quantity as determined by the product's Default Label Quantity e.g. Order Quantity. However, this quantity can be amended per print.
    • Price Tier: Select a Sell Price Tier you want to apply to the label. By default, the field is blank and can be left blank if not required. 
    • Label Template: Will populate the template advised in the product's For Sales Orders menu.
  3. Select Print.
  4. A PDF version of the labels will be available to download from the task bar in the top right of Unleashed. Select the hyperlink in the task to download the document and send to your printer.

View Sales Orders

  1. From the main menu, select Sales and View Sales Orders.
  2. Use the filters available to locate the Sales Order and on the Action Cog on the right hand side select Print Product Labels.


  3. A pop-up window for Label Printing will appear, listing all products included on the Sales Order. Use the checkboxes to select which of the listed products you want to print a label for (hover over the Action Cog for the option to Select All or Select None)
    • Label Quantity: Will populate the quantity as determined by the product's Default Label Quantity e.g. Order Quantity. However, this quantity can be amended per print.
    • Price Tier: Select a Sell Price Tier you want to apply to the label. By default, the field is blank and can be left blank if not required. 
    • Label Template: Will populate the template advised in the product's For Sales Orders menu.
  4. Select Print.
  5. A PDF version of the labels will be available to download from the task bar in the top right of Unleashed. Select the hyperlink in the task to download the document and send to your printer.

You can also bulk print product labels for multiple Sales Orders, as follows:

  1. In the View Sales Order page, tick the checkboxes for the Sales Orders you want to print product labels for, then in the Action Cog header, select Print Documents.


  2. In the Print pop-up window, select Labels
  3. A PDF version of the labels will be available to download from the task bar in the top right of Unleashed. Select the hyperlink in the task to download the document and send to your printer.

Printing Product Labels From Customer's Orders tab

You can also print product labels for Sales Orders listed in a Customer's record, in the same way as you can print the labels in the View Sales Order page. Print the labels either in bulk across multiple Sales Orders or individually with the Action Cog on the right, from the Customer's Orders tab.

Troubleshooting Tips for Zebra G Series

  • If the printer is not correctly set up with the roller, go to Zebra Setup Utilities | Open Printer Tools | Action | Calibrate Media | Send. The printer will be calibrated with the correct settings.

  • Whenever you change the paper roll, you must reset the following Zebra G series printer settings: Zebra Setup Utilities | Open Printer Tools | Print configuration label | Send.

Serial Shipping Container Code (SSCC)

  • The label printing feature in Unleashed does not support the generation and printing of SSCC labels.
  • You are able to use the Doc Designer to adjust your barcode type; Code 128 can represent all 128 ASCII code characters, making compliant with universal encoding requirements.
