Using the AIM Forecast Component Demand tab

Follow

In this article we will cover how the Component Demand tab can help you review what component quantities you will need according to your forecast, when you are likely to need to replenish your components and how to navigate between the forecasts for related products.

This tab only appears if the product open in forecast is an assembled product. Allow 1-hour for AIM to update if you make a product an assembled product.

Let's review the UI:

  1. Filter search for components of the current product being forecast
  2. Date range selector that filters the component demand quantity to only the quantity that is in demand within that date range.
Use this filter to query how much demand exists within a time period of interest
  3. BOM icon indicating the component is an assembled product
  4. Product Code of the related component
  5. Description of the related component
  6. Require stock qty of each component. This is calculated in different ways, depending if Production Demand is enabled or not.
If linking components in Production Demand is off, the calculation is the replenishment quantity of the assembled item in the forecast, multiplied by the component quantity per unit in the BOM.
If Production Demand is enabled, then the Required Stock will indicate N/A until the forecast is saved, triggering the Production Demand calculation process to begin.
Once the Production Demand is calculated, then the Required Stock is calculated according to each components forecast.
We recommend that you set a strategy for how many days of stock you want to hold for each component to calculate realistic replenishments.
  7. The Base Unit of Measure for each component
  8. If Production Planning is enabled, this will indicate the Next Replenishment Date for each component according to its forecast.
Next replenishment date will show as 'Overdue' if the required arrival date of stock minus the lead days or production duration means that order date, or assembly start date is now in the past.
If you have not set how many days of stock you want to hold in each components forecast, then you will find its forecast is calculating to purchase 1 day of stock a time.
We recommend that you set a strategy for how many days of stock you want to hold for each component to calculate realistic replenishments.
  9. Toggle flatten BOM, showing all sub-components, or single level BOM, to show only direct components of the currently forecast product.

You are able to navigate down the BOM to component product forecasts by clicking on a product code. You are also able to navigate to related assembled items using the Assembled Products tab.
