Creating a forecast

Follow

In this article we will outline the basic steps to create a forecast in AIM.

Open the forecast

Open the Forecast tab and select your product and warehouse you would like to forecast.

Forecasting Demand

Set the forecast demand per month by dragging the blue dots in the Demand Forecast Analysis chart.

You can open this by clicking ‘Demand’ in the chart toggle selector.

You are only able to set forecast demand for future and current months. The past months' forecast will be read-only and can be compared to the actual demand achieved.

Alternatively, you an set the demand per month by using the table below, or by using the 'fill forecast' option in the Set Demand panel to populate the forecast with system generated numbers, or a year-on-year growth percentage.

Configure a stock holding and replenishment strategy

Set a strategy for stock holding for your assembled item using the Plan Supply strategy panel.

Enter the 'Min Days of Stock' to the number of days of stock remaining at the point you want to reorder stock.

Enter the 'Max Days of Stock' to the number of days of stock you want to hold once your order arrives.

Enter the 'Lead Days' to how long stock takes to arrive from your supplier. The number of days between the Min Days of Stock and Lead Days will be a buffer that gives you extra time to arrange a purchase order.

Review your replenishments and Save

The system will calculate replenishments when it calculates that the SOH forecast on a given day is not sufficient for the demand of the following days selected as your ‘min days of stock.’ The ‘max days of stock’ will determine the size of your replenishment.

Review the replenishments in the 'Replenishments' tab below the charts and the Supply chart:

Once you are happy with your strategy, press 'Save Forecast' in the top right corner of the page.

Your forecast replenishments will then be calculated and found in the AIM Replenishments tab
