Configuring how Demand is calculated

Follow

In this article we will explore the configuration options available in how demand is calculated in the AIM Modelling tab.

The demand button features two controls. The first, 'Combine Warehouses' will only be available if you have filtered the product selection to a single warehouse. Once this is done you will be able to combine the demand from multiple warehouses, or globally to help you ensure you are calculating stock limits to cope with the demand for several sales or manufacturing locations. This is useful if you purchase or manufacture in one warehouse but sell out of other warehouses.

By selecting all of the warehouses under Demand, then you will model the amount of stock you want to hold based on the global demand of the company.

The second control in this panel is a tick box to 'Include stock transfers' in the demand calculation.

Stock transfers do not contribute to demand by default, however if you manufacture stock in one location and transfer it out, you may want to simply enable this option to consider the transfer as demand.

Caution: This option is likely not suitable for many situations. If you stock transfer into a storage location and back then this will erroneously count as 'demand' and will inflate your calculations!
