How to complete an Auto-assembly

Follow

When an assembled product's Bill of Materials (BOM) has the "Can Auto Assemble" setting enabled, anytime the product's allocated to a Sales Order (SO) but there is not enough stock available in the Order Warehouse to fulfil it, Unleashed will create a "Parked" Assembly for the outstanding quantity.

When the "Parked" Assembly is created an orange ! icon will show in the assembled product's Sales Order line. Click on the ! icon to open the Assembly in a new page.

A "Parked" Auto-assembly can be updated to "Complete" status by either:

  • Completing the Sales Order.
  • Completing the Assembly from the Sales Order line's Action Cog.
  • Completing the Assembly.

Once an Auto-Assembly is completed, the orange ! icon will update to a green tick.

Points to note

  • An Assembly will only successfully complete if there is sufficient component stock available in the Assembly's "Source Warehouse".
  • If the assembled or component products of an Auto-Assembly are batch or serial tracked, the batch and serial numbers must be assigned in the Assembly prior to completion.

Complete a Sales Order to complete an Auto-assembly

An Auto-assembly will automatically be completed when the Sales Order it has been created from is updated to Completed status, provided there is enough component stock available to fulfil the Auto-assembly.

Complete an Auto-assembly from the Sales Order line

If the whole Sales Order is not due to be completed, but a select number of order lines that include Auto-assemblies are available to ship you can complete the appropriate Auto-assemblies directly from the Sales Order's Order Lines tab:

  1. In the Sales Order, use the checkboxes available to select Order Lines with a "Parked" Assembly (orange ! icon).

  2. Hover over the Acton Cog icon in the header and select "Complete Assembly".

  3. The Sales Order's status will remain unchanged, but the Auto-assembly will update to "Complete" status.

Complete an Auto-assembly

Open the Auto-assembly's transaction page by either clicking on the orange ! icon in the SO or locating the Assembly from the global search or View Assemblies page, and select "Complete" to complete it directly. The Sales Order's status will remain unchanged but the Order Line's assembly icon will update to show a completed Assembly (green tick icon).

Completing Auto-assemblies with Batch or Serial track products

Prior to completing an Auto-assembly that includes any assembled or component products with batch or serial tracking enabled, the Assembly must have component's batch or serial stock assigned and/or the assembled product must have the new batch or serial number created.

To manage batch or serial allocation in an Auto-assembly:

  1. Open the Assembly.

  2. If components on the Assembly are serial or batch tracked, use the Serial or Batch columns in the Assembly Lines tab to assign the component quantities with currently available batch or serial numbers. Click on each Assembly Line's Serial/Batch field to manually assign Serial/Batch numbers or use the Action Cog in the Serial or Batch headers to bulk assign the "Oldest" serial and batch numbers to the Assembly.

  3. If the assembled product is serial or batch tracked, click on the Batch/Serial Numbers tab to "Add" the appropriate batch or serial number detail for the newly assembled quantity.

  4. Once the assembled and component products have their assigned serial/batch numbers (they'll appear in green), Complete the Assembly.
