Authorizations of your Xero account are a reality in Unleashed. A lot of progress has been made recently in making this less frequent, however that Xero log-in window is still a fact of life. This is opened from Unleashed in a pop-up, designed to let you quickly login and move on. All modern browsers have a pop-up blocker however, and this can stop you from authorizing your account, and sending transactions through to Xero. 

Below are a set of handy instructions for letting Unleashed through your blocker, or in some browsers how to disable it entirely. 

 

Here's a scenario. You're about to do some work in Unleashed, and you'd like to make sure your Xero connection is active. 

 

 

You'd hit the Check Connection button, and if your pop-up blocker decided not to give you problems you'd see the Xero authorization pop-up. 

 

 

This article is going to help you when that's not what happens. When you are met with stony silence from your browser, this is what you can do, and it's cheaper then buying flowers. 

 

 

Chrome

Google's browser, Chrome, is quick, slick, and fully supported by Unleashed. 

When re-authorizing your Xero connection for the first time you may find that the pop-up is not opening. We'll show you below how to change this. 

Whenever the Xero pop-up attempts to open, you will see the icon and message in the screenshot below in your address bar. 

 

 

All you have to do however is click this message, and you will have the following options. 

 

 

Select the option to always allow pop-ups from Unleashed, as these will always only ever be Xero authorization messages. 

 

 

Safari

The default browser for Apple computers, and also used on some PC's, the Safari browser does not have specific site exemptions for their pop-up blocker. This means it must be turned off completely in order for your Xero windows to open. Not a huge problem though, as Safari is not an Unleashed-supported browser. We highly recommended users run Firefox or Chrome, on PC or OSX. 

 

 

Still, here's how to turn off the pop-up blocker in that browser. 

 

 

Just make sure that checkmark is unticked.

 

 

Firefox

 

Netscape in a former life, Mozilla Firefox is a juggernaught of a web browser. With a huge install base on both PC and Mac, Firefox is a dream to develop for. Unleashed fully supports Firefox, in fact we'd go so far as to say we love Firefox. The brand new iteration of it, version 4, is still having some kinks worked from it on Mozilla's side, so we recommend 3.6.6 in order to have no worries. 4 should be supported very soon however. 

 

Here's how to add Unleashed to the Firefox exception list. 

 

 

In case this happens, and you receive a notification that Firefox has blocked Unleashed from opening the Xero authorization window, do this;
